One of my signature design styles is to create themed serving platters for parties. I love coming up with new and unexpected ideas to suit each event. I think displaying food in a decorative way makes a great conversation piece and also adds to the overall mood of the get together. I have had requests on how to create this project since my Ravens party TV segment so here are the step-by-step instructions for my First Down Tray. I spent under $3 to create project because I used mostly household items and leftover pieces from other projects. I have also included printable patterns so you can recreate this fun and festive football serving dish. Have fun and enjoy the playoffs!

- Wooden Skewer

- Black Card Stock
- Black Ribbon
- Yellow Ribbon

Paint the entire shoe box lid with green paint. Let dry. Glue the yellow ribbon down the center with crafts glue to create the first down line marker.
Cut out the pieces of the yard marker from the printable pattern I provided. Using craft glue, cover the entire circle and triangular shape with orange card stock on both the front and back sides. Cut out the pieces of the white and black and attach to one side of the yard marker with craft glue in the configuration as shown above.
Using the hot glue gun, attach the wooden skewer to the back of the two pieces to hold them together. Glue the black ribbon to the sides of the marker as shown to give it that authentic NFL detail.
Using the hot glue gun, attach the bottom part of the yard marker to the inside rim of the shoe box lid, making it flush with the bottom of the box for stability. I used a lot of glue to make sure the piece did not bend or snap off. I placed some green napkins down on the inside of the box before placing the food inside of the tray to make it food safe and for easy cleanup. Who doesn’t love easy cleanup after a party!
